TikTok Analytics: How to access it and what you can learn from it

Your growth strategy on any social media platform is only valid if it can be accurately measured. While making it on TikTok’s coveted For You page is an obvious indicator of a video’s high engagement and visibility, it isn’t the only means of seeing how well your content is performing on the app.

The TikTok Analytics tool is an in-app feature that lets you measure your video viewers, followers, and other important data that influence how popular your profile is. In this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know about TikTok Analytics, including how to use it to grow your status on the app.

How to check your TikTok analytics

Checking your TikTok analytics is easy once you have your profile set up to do so. In order to have access to this feature, you must convert your account to a TikTok Pro account. This is free to do and allows you to set up your profile as either a business or a creator.

How to access TikTok analytics for your account

To view your TikTok analytics, you must first switch your profile to a TikTok Pro account. Here’s how:

  1. Open the TikTok app.
  2. Press the Profile button at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Tap the three horizontal lines at the top right of the screen.
  4. Navigate to Settings and privacy > Account.
  5. Select Switch to Business Account and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Why can’t I see my analytics on TikTok?

If you can’t view your analytics, it probably means that your profile is a personal account. Use the instructions above to switch over to a creator or business account.

How to check TikTok video stats

In addition to accessing the analytics for your entire profile and all of your content, you can also check the analytics for individual videos you post. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open the TikTok app.
  2. Press the Profile button at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Navigate to the video you wish to check.
  4. Press the three horizontal buttons at the bottom right of the screen.
  5. Tap the Analytics button at the bottom left of the screen.

From there, you’ll be able to view things like the video’s average watch time, how many times it was played, and where the video’s traffic came from.

Here’s how to find the analytics for your entire profile:

  1. Open the TikTok app.
  2. Press the Profile button at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Tap the three horizontal lines at the top right of the screen.
  4. Navigate to Creator tools > Analytics.

What the TikTok Analytics tool covers

Now that you know how to find your TikTok analytics, let’s go over the specific data they cover and how you can use it to grow your profile.

The Overview tab

When you open your TikTok Analytics, the first tab you’ll see is the Overview tab. This will display the following data for the past seven days:

  • Your total number of views on all content posted in the past week and whether that number has increased or decreased from the previous week
  • Your total number of followers
  • How many followers you’ve gained or lost
  • The total number of profile views and whether that number has increased or decreased

You can adjust the date range at the top of the screen to see data from the last 28 or 60 days. You can also enter a custom date range.

These numbers are great for seeing if your content or profile had a spike in traffic over the week. You can then use that information to see what video the traffic came from and create similar content in the future.

The Content tab

When you click on the Content tab (in the top-middle of the screen), you’ll see data related to your TikTok posts published in the last seven days. That data will include:

  • The total number of videos you posted
  • The number of videos that are currently trending
  • Specific analytics for each video in order of newest to oldest

There’s also a Create Post button in the Content tab, which takes you to the TikTok camera to film.

The Followers tab

The last tab that features analytics is your Followers tab, located at the top-right of the screen. It includes data about your followers, including:

  • The number of followers you currently have
  • A graph showing if that total number has increased or decreased in the past week
  • Demographics such as your followers’ genders and locations
  • What videos your followers have watched
  • What songs your followers have listened to

The only downside to this tab is that you have to acquire at least 100 followers before any demographics can be displayed here.

Video analytics

Video analytics are specific data for individual videos. You can access them from your profile or by clicking on the video within the Content tab. These analytics include data such as:

  • How many times your video has been played
  • The number of likes it has received
  • The total comments it has received
  • How many times it has been shared
  • Its total playtime
  • The average watch time
  • Sources of the video’s traffic, such as your profile or the For You page
  • The number of users who watched your video and their top locations

Utilizing TikTok analytics is a great way to understand which videos are performing the best so you can create the kind of content your audience wants to see. So whether you’re sharing TikTok photography tricks or funny sketches from your everyday life, you can get those videos in front of the right viewers.
